r3 Groups

Trinity Life emphasizes discipleship as someone learning to HEAR and OBEY the voice of God while learning to live life UP, IN, and OUT. r3 Groups will help you follow Jesus in community with one another while influencing those around you to do the same.

What Is An r3 Group?

We want to be followers of Jesus who make disciples who make disciples who make disciples who make disciples. To do this, we emphasize three rhythms as we journey together in community. These rhythms form us to grow in hearing God together (UP; Identity in Christ), sharing life together (IN; Destiny in Christ), and living on mission together (OUT; Influencing our city and the world).

Our Values

The three rhythms are woven together to create a certain kind of discipleship environment that is shaped by our five values as a church:

Movement

Where is our church located? We worship in Spirit and in truth across the city (John 4:23-24). We are not confined to a building. We are not centred in a certain neighbourhood. We are joining God’s movement across our city and want to empower you to do the same where God has placed you. This is why your r3 is localized. Our hope is to remove the hindrances of a fully-centralized church framework and restore a hybrid-decentralized kingdom framework.

Community

Genuine, authentic, transparent, safe community is often difficult to come by. In order to make this possible we have both male and female specific r3 Groups where life can be shared freely and deeply. Also, we have regionally-mixed Weekly Rallys where the r3 Groups come together for corporate worship and discipleship. Our Collective Rally then serves to connect your r3 region to other r3 regions across our city!

Transformation

How does genuine transformation take place? Only through the One-Another Lifestyle that we see through the One-Another principles of the Scriptures (e.g. love, serve, forgive, carry the burdens of one another). Our r3 Groups are designed to encourage this lifestyle so that you can discover your spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12:4-11) and live the One-Another Lifestyle with others who are sharing in the three rhythms (John 13:34-35).

Truth

We want to give you a space where the Scriptures can teach, correct, rebuke, and train you in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). Our r3 Groups do this according to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5-7). Here, Jesus shows us what it looks like to be a Kingdom citizen through six themes that we call the 6Fs. Your r3 will consistently disciple you in regards to your Faith, Fuel, Family, Fitness, Finances, and Fruit.

Boldness

Our desire is that you discover that you have the same power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) as any other follower of Jesus! We want to empower you to actually be a part of the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) and make disciples by inviting others to imitate you as you imitate Christ (1 Cor 11:1). Our God has not given you a spirit of timidity or fear, but a Spirit of power and love and self-discipline (2 Tim 1:7).

A curious person is seeking more from life. Generally, you're looking for identity, purpose, and meaning in what you're doing. You might long to be a part of something bigger and want to take action in your life. Spiritual matters are starting to interest you and you may even be engaging in spiritual practices as a means to help you discover identity and purpose.

A believer has started to accept who Jesus is and the life He offers. Your identity in Christ is beginning to reorder your desires and you're starting to see a glimpse of what destiny in Christ looks like. This is leading you to explore the presence of God through spiritual disciplines and your spiritual gifts while starting to discover the abundant life in community you were created for.

A disciple is someone who is rooted in their identity in Christ. You're becoming more consistent in spiritual disciplines because a growing relationship with God is important to you. As a result, you’re growing in how to hear and obey the voice of God. You’re becoming more comfortable with operating in your spiritual gifts and you’re actively pursuing the 'one-another lifestyle' within your church. Also, you're actively influencing your city and starting to take intentional steps towards influencing the world through making disciples.

A disciple maker has a burden to see others discover their identity in Christ. You actively live the 'one another lifestyle' and are inviting people to experience it instead of just hear about it. You're able to architect your life in a way where others can see how to imitate Christ through how you imitate Christ. As you hear and obey God consistently through your spiritual disciplines and operate in your spiritual gifts, the people you influence will share the fervency in Spirit you have to influence their city and the world.
